The University of Nairobi (UoN) is in discussions on possible funding with Chinese based AVIC-INTL Project Engineering Company.
In a meeting between the Company’s Project Manager, Mr. Zhao Leilei and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi, it was discussed and agreed that the University, through the Advancement Office will present a concept note on the infrastructure development plan.
Prof. Mbithi gave an overview of the priority infrastructure projects with special focus on the Engineering and Science Complex and the students’ hostels. He noted that the development of state-of-the-art teaching, learning and research facilities is a key agenda for the University. In his presentation, the Vice-Chancellor invited the Engineering Company to consider partnering with the University in realizing this goal.
On his part, Mr. Leilei said that the Company is willing to support the University in this endeavor. He noted that already AVIC-INTL Project Engineering Company is running various infrastructure development projects in Kenya.
Present during the meeting was the Director, University Advancement Mr. Johnson Kinyua, and the Deputy Director, Mr. Brian Ouma.
