The University of Nairobi (UoN) will host a forum on peace following a proposal by the Ambassador for the Republic of South Sudan in Kenya, Mariano Deng Ngor.
Speaking during the meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi, Amb. Ngor said that after several considerations, the University of Nairobi was chosen because of its rich history in hosting historical discourses in Kenya. According to the Ambassador, the forum will capture the essence of the academia in peace talks and the proceedings may act as guide for stakeholders involved in peace talks.
While welcoming the initiative, Prof. Mbithi said that indeed the University will be pleased to host the forum. He observed that indeed, the University has the capacity to host an important intellectual discourse.
It was discussed and agreed that the Embassy will present a formal proposal on the forum to the University for action and implementation.
Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs and Prof. Isaac Jumba, Principal, College of Education and External Studies were present during the meeting.
