The University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter M. F. Mbithi has today June 22, 2015 launched the Staff Movement Advice and Staff Clearance Information Systems at the Vice-Chancellor Parlour.
The Staff Movement Management System will enable the University to maintain accurate and easily retrievable staff movement advice records, keep track of staff movement advice process, provide staff history and improve the efficiency of movement advice. On the other hand, through the Staff Clearance System the University will maintain accurate and easily retrievable staff clearance records and keep track of staff clearance process, lost items and University debtors. The two systems were developed by ICTC team in collaboration with the Administration and Finance Departments.
While presiding over the event, the Vice-Chancellor, noted that the systems will come in handy and give clarity and focus to the movement and clearance of staff as the case may be. Indeed, the systems will help the university address some of the challenges faced in managing staff issues. Prof. Mbithi congratulated the teams involved in the development of the systems.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance, Prof. Bernard Njoroge said that the automation of the existing manual system will improve the efficiency of clearance process by reducing service turnaround time. In addition, information generated by the system will assist the University make key decisions in matters concerning staff.
The ICTC team led by the Director, Mr. Ibrahim Otieno, made a presentation on how the system works. Also present during the launch were members of the University Management Board and staff.
