Italy Ambassador to Kenya with Prof. Peter M. F. Mbithi, UoN Vice-Chancellor

A team from the Embassy of Italy in Kenya paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter M. F. Mbithi and discussed among other things the forthcoming public lecture by the Italian Prime Minister, H. E  Matteo Renzi.

Speaking during the meeting, the Italian Ambassador to Kenya H.E Mauro Massoni noted that the Italian Premier would be coming to the country to speak with the students and share some words of wisdom.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the public lecture would be delivered in Taifa Hall, Main Campus. Taifa Hall he said,  has a history of hosting eminent persons key among them; the current United States of America President, Barack Obama when he was Illinois Senator in 2006, German Chancellor, Angela Markel, former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, among other dignitaries.

Possible topic to be discussed during the public lecture is “how higher education can make young people contribute to development and peace”. Peace and development are fundamental to the growth of any country.  

Arrangements for the forthcoming public lecture are ongoing and security will be provided by the Kenya Police.

Present during the meeting included: Prof. Henry Mutoro, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs,  Mr. Johnson Kinyua, Director, University Advancement and Mr. Brian Ouma, Deputy Director in Charge of Fundraising.
