University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi, led staff in a tree planting exercise at the Wangari Maathai Institute located some one kilometre from the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. The tree planting was on May, 19, 2016.
Speaking during the tree planting exercise, the Vice-Chancellor, urged staff to work as a team to help the University achieve the world class status and maintain its position at the top 3 percent worldwide. Prof. Mbithi noted that when the staff work as a team and with passion, the ‘University will grow in leaps and bounds. We shall see growth in research, academic quality’, he said.
The Vice-Chancellor took the opportunity to congratulate Prof. Stephen Kiama on his appointment as the new Principal, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. Prof. Kiama was the Director of Wangari Maathai Institute before his appointment as to the position of the Principal.
The pupils from Loresho Primary School joined the University staff and students in the tree planting exercise.
