The Equity Bank group has given a donation of Ksh. 1.5 million to the University as the Bank’s contribution towards sponsoring the University’s Innovation Week 2016, scheduled for August 1 – 5, 2016.
In a brief ceremony held in the Vice-Chancellor’s Boardroom, the Bank’s Corporate and Institutional Banking Manager, Ms. Agnes Wanjuki on behalf of the Bank’s CEO, presented the cheques to the Vice Chancellor. In his remarks, the Vice chancellor said that University of Nairobi is keen to explore many pathways of co-operating with Equity Bank. He stressed on the importance of partnering in the fields of Research and Technology, pointing out that Innovation Week is just one of the avenues. He added that UoN will not be relenting in its efforts to solidify its relationship with the Bank, saying that he looked forward to greater support and co-operation.
On her part, Ms. Wanjuki said that the bank was keen to partner with the UoN, being the biggest University in the region. She pointed out that the Bank CEO, Dr. James Mwangi and herself were alumni of UoN and are therefore proud to spearhead greater co-operation with their alma mater. She indicated that the bank was already sponsoring over 140 students in various programmes through Mastercard.

Deputy Vice Chancellor (RPE), Dr. Tonny OMwansa, Chairman, Nairobi Innovation Week 2016, Mr. Peter Busienei, Finance Officer, Johnson Kinyua, Director, University Advancement and John Orindi, Director, Corporate Affairs.
