University of Nairobi, Sub-Department of French held a one day symposium that was attended by none other than the Minister of State Development and Francophonie, Hon. Andre Vallini who encouraged students to adopt technology in to help them master the Language.
Speaking to students of French at the College of Humanities of Social Sciences on Thursday, August, 26, 2016 Hon Vallini noted that his role involves helping English speaking countries learn the French language. He lauded the partnership with the University of Nairobi which has been very fruitful.
Among the benefits brought about by the partnership include: support of Msc. Geosciences students by the oil giant, Total. Upon completion, the students will help in oil exploration. With other partners, the French government donated USD 45 million to support Kenyan Universities.
The Minister of State Development as well encouraged staff and students cultural exchange between Kenya and France.
On his part, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi pledged to support the partnership between the University of Nairobi and the French people. He said the partnership will help in building capacity to enhance the use of French language.
Also present during the meeting were: Prof. Enos Njeru, Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Jane Mutiga, Centre of Translation and Interpretation and Mr. Johnson Kinyua, Director, University Advancement.
