University of Nairobi set to get 30M USD Loan for Science and Engineering Complex

French Development Agency (Afd) and the University of Nairobi has entered into negotiations for approximately 30M USD concessional loan to fund Science and Engineering complex that will.

This is through a program that the French government through French Development Agency (Afd) is set to launch for funding higher education projects in Kenya.

Ms. Nathanaelle Amar, Project Coordinator of Education in French Development Agency in Paris paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi. She extended an invitation to the Vice Chancellor to the launch of the funding program to public and private universities. She also discussed the intricate details of the process of funding and the sustainability of the project.

 On his part, Prof. Mbithi expounded more on the processes that the University has to go through, in terms of project planning, implementation and access of funding. He said that the University weighs the project in terms of strategic objectives, continuity,  impact and if it is generally in line with the objectives of the University.

The launch of the program is on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Norfolk Hotel.

Johnson Kinyua, Director, University Advancement, Brian Ouma, Deputy Director, University Advancement, John Orindi, Director, Corporate Affairs, Peter  Busienei, Finance Officer among others were present during the courtesy call that took place on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.
