Chancellor signs visitors book

The University of Nairobi Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi has donated Ksh. 9 Million worth of books to the School of Law Library in Parklands.

Speaking during her maiden visit to the Law School , Dr. Rattansi accepted to champion the fundraising efforts for the School of Law Tower. The building will go a long way in improving the teaching and learning facilities at the premier Law School in the region. Upon its completion, the tower will used for teaching 3,000 law students and will be used by 120 staff for academic research.

The Chancellor, took the opportunity to congratulate the new Dean, Prof. Kiarie Mwaura who succeeded, Prof. Patricia Kamore-Mbote. She also expressed her desire to see the School of Law maintain its reputation as the best law school in the region. 

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi reiterated University Management’s commitment to improve the quality of university education saying that the match towards world class is unstoppable.

Prof. Kiarie Mwaura, Dean, School of Law, expressed the need to improve the teaching and learning facilities. Currently, the school offers bachelors, masters and doctorate programs. The bachelors program is also offered in Kisumu and Mombasa Campuses. “We need to start looking into the area of oil and gas and also financial law,” he observed. He noted that going forward, those are the new areas to be explored.

The Chancellor, was accompanied by Prof. Enos Njeru, Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Dr. Obosi, the Registrar, College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Mr. Johnson Kinyua , Director, University Advancement among other staff members.
