Mitsubishi Corporation awards 14 scholarships to UoN students.

The giant multinational, Mitsubishi Corporation, has today pledged to continue supporting bright and needy students from the University of Nairobi.

Speaking during a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi, Mitsubishi Corporation General Manager, Mr. Ichiro Sugane, noted that their company has been in Kenya from 1959 supporting various endeavours since 1997, they have consistently supported bright and needy students to achieve quality education.  Mitsubishi have contributed immensely towards the growth of the country by among others; supporting the development of Mombasa airport in 1960s, supporting the development of geothermal power supply in 1980s and lately contributing to the development of human capital.

During the meeting today, Mr. Ichiro presented 14 scholarship awards certificates to the University of Nairobi students. He was accompanied by Ms. Alice Kibebe from the Nairobi Liason Office.

Mitsubishi Corporation have supported students from the fields of Environmental Science and Geography. This is bound to change as more students may be incorporated in the scholarship program.

Prof. Henry Mutoro, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, took the opportunity to thank Mitsubishi Corporation for their continued support towards the bright and needy students. The corporation have been supporting over 10 students annually in the last decade.

Mr. John Orindi, Director, Corporate Affairs, requested the corporation to consider supporting other University endevours like research, innovation programs like innovation week, provide coaching and mentorship to Engineering students and lastly supporting students extra curriculum activities like sports.
