University Fraternity Eulogizes G.P. Mbugua

The University of Nairobi community led by the Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi eulogized the late Ag. Registrar, Administration, Gerishon Peter Mbugua at a requiem mass held at St. Paul’s University Chapel on August 3, 2017.

Speaking during the mass, the Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, described the late G.P. Mbugua as a hardworking man who dedicated his service to the university. “He was kind, caring and had passion for work,” said Dr. Rattansi.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi attributed some of his achievements at the University to the dedication to duty exhibited by G.P. Mbugua among other staff members in his office. “If I have been successful in the last 10 years as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) and for the last 3 years as Vice-Chancellor, then it is due to G. P Mbugua, “said Prof. Mbithi. The Vice-Chancellor described the Registrar in charge of Administration department as clever, strong, dependable, friendly and useful to the University. He was always prepared for University Council meeting and reminded him of the University statutes, procedures, and was as well trained on management issues.

Among the achievements that the Vice-Chancellor attributed to the late G. P. Mbugua include ; the certification of the University of Nairobi  by Kenya Bureau of Standards and thereafter the award of the ISO 9001:2015 certificate.

The colleagues from the Administration department described the late G. P Mbugua as ‘compassionate and punctual'. They noted that he was a man who loved duty and professionalism. He mentored several people and equally guided staff members who worked under him.

The late G. P. Mbugua will be buried in Molo town, Nakuru County, on Friday, August 4, 2017.
