UONAA donates 2M  cheque to support needy students.

University of Nairobi Alumni Association, (UONAA) has donated Kshs. 2 Million towards the University bursary fund to support needy students to help them pursue their careers. The cheque was presented on November, 14, 2017.

The Alumni Association members led by the Secretary, Prof. PLO Lumumba to the University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi.  While presenting the cheque, Prof. Lumumba observed that he is looking forward to the endowment fund and supporting more students in the coming future to enable them pursue their career goals without financial struggles. 

Prof. Peter Mbithi, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Nairobi, thanked the Alumni Association for the good work they are doing supporting the University. He shared the latest QS ranking with the Alumni Association where the University was position 66 globally in alumni relations and 300 globally for employability of its graduates.

Dr. Anne Assey, Vice-Chairperson, UONAA , observed that the Alumni Association has supported the students bursary to the tune of 19M since 2009. She said that the Alumni Association is vibrant and they are ready to support research and university activities like open days, innovation week, prize giving day among others. “The Association has 14 Alumni Chapters, which will be approached to support various university endevours, “said, Dr. Assey. She took the opportunity to thank the Vice-Chancellor for supporting the association with the necessary human capital to help it run its affairs efficiently.

The meeting was attended by among others; Prof. Godfrey Muriuki, Special Students Advisor, Mr. John Kenduiyo and Mr. Johnson Kinyua, Director University Advancement, Mr. Keneth Sawe, Executive Director, UONAA among others..
