St. Pauls University Chapel launch the 8th Music Album

The University of Nairobi students from St. Paul’s University Chapel have launched their eighth music album. The launch was attended by among others; Honourable Chris Wamalwa and University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi. The launch took place yesterday, April, 8, 2018 at St. Paul’s University Chapel.

Speaking during the launch, Chris Wamalwa, the Member of Parliament for Kimilili, praised the students for the exemplary performance and using their talents to preach the gospel through songs. He promised to fund their next album, being the ninth album since the group was founded in 2001. Hon. Wamalwa, is the Chair, Catholic Members of Parliament. He promised that going forward, lecturer’s salary issues will be resolved through legislation in parliament, so that strikes are eliminated and students given an opportunity to have an interrupted studies.  

Hon. Wamalwa promised to organize networking sessions with Catholic students where they can be mentored, get internship opportunities and even scholarship to further their studies. He revealed that once a year, Catholic MPs organize visits to Rome and meet the Holy Father to tap from his wise counsel.

Prof. Peter Mbithi, the University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, recalled with nostalgia, to the amusement of students, his student days and how they would fellowship at St. Paul’s University Chapel. His life has revolved around the Chapel, from his wedding to the baptism of his children. He urged students to maximize their experiences while in campus. He said that the University strategic plan emphasizes the need to produce holistic graduates, who are both good academically and in extra-curriculum activities. He thanked the students for using their time in preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ through music.

The event was attended by among others: Prof. Henry Mutoro, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs and Father Peter Kaigua, UoN Catholic Chaplain.
