On Tuesday 11th January 2022, the University of Nairobi signed a collaborative agreement with the Smile Train in a capacity building and community service program. The program will give 20 fully funded sponsorships to resident doctors in the Eastern and Central African region at the Department of Surgery at the University of Nairobi. Each resident will receive Kenya Shillings 2.1 million stipends in addition to the scholarship. The training will be on plastic surgery and microsurgery.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi and Vice President of Global Health program, Smile Train Dr. Esther Njoroge-Muriithi signed the agreement.
