The University of Nairobi hosted the launch of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Kenya (SDSN-K) 2022-2026 Strategic Plan on Thursday, February 3, 2022. SDSN-K is a global community of universities, research centres, and knowledge institutions.  The Kenyan National network aims to teach sustainable development, support solution initiatives, and localize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation in the country. SDSN Kenya is hosted by two institutions namely; Department of Diplomacy and International Studies, University of Nairobi, and the Centre for Public Sector Reforms (CPSR), Moi University.

In his remarks during the Launch, the University of Nairobi's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama underscored the importance of universities in accelerating the achievement of the SDGs in the next 8 years. He said that Universities should generate and disseminate knowledge and put it together in the context of addressing Sustainable Development Goals. He noted that as a Nation, there is still a lot of work to be done to achieve the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs ). Strides have been made in some areas and it is incumbent upon key stakeholders especially the institutions of Higher learning to be at the forefront in offering sustainable development solutions targeting the communities within which they live to improve their livelihoods.
