Major Boost to Research and Exchange as UoN Partners with NSU
The University of Nairobi has entered into a new international partnership with Northwestern State University (NSU), marking another milestone in its commitment to global collaboration in education and research. The Collaboration Agreement was formally signed at the University of Nairobi’s Main Campus by Vice Chancellor (Ag) Prof. Margaret Hutchinson and Dr. Simon Njeri, Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Northwestern State University, on October 27, 2025.
The partnership, which will be anchored at the Department of Management Science, Faculty of Business and Management Science, sets the stage for enhanced cooperation between the two institutions in areas of faculty and student exchange as well as joint research initiatives. The collaboration is expected to promote cultural enrichment, scientific advancement and the consolidation of friendship between Kenya and the United States.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Prof. Hutchinson emphasised the University’s dedication to fostering global partnerships that enhance academic excellence and research impact. “This collaboration reflects our vision of positioning the University of Nairobi as a globally competitive institution that transforms society through knowledge, innovation and partnership,” she said.
Dr. Njeri expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that it will open new opportunities for faculty and students from both universities to learn from each other and engage in collaborative research that addresses global challenges. “Our cooperation will not only enrich our academic communities but also strengthen the cultural and scientific bonds between our nations,” he remarked.
Also present at the ceremony were staff from the Department of Management Science, led by the Chair Prof. Stephen Odock. The team expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to enhance teaching, research and innovation within the faculty.
The agreement adds to the growing portfolio of the University of Nairobi’s international collaborations aimed at promoting innovation, research excellence and global engagement.
