A delegation from Nelson Mandela University paid a courtesy call on University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama on Friday 1st July, 2022.

The delegation was led by Prof. André Keet, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Engagement and Transformation at Nelson Mandela University.

The team was at UoN to firm up a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two institutions early this year and convert it into a memorandum of actions as well as explore other areas of collaboration.

In the signed MoU, the two institutions agreed on collaboration in research, teaching, and exchange programs.

Prof. Keet said Nelson Mandela University was glad to learn from the work UoN was doing in addition to its firm academic foundation and history.

On his part, UoN VC Prof. Stephen Kiama said UoN was ready to collaborate with Nelson Mandela University particularly in the area of research and students exchange.

He said when two institutions collaborate in doing research, the resulting output is high and of great quality as compared to internal collaboration.

Prof. Kiama said UoN had mentored other universities to be where they are today and that the institution had brought social and economic transformation in this country.
