Vice Chancellor (Ag) Presented to Trophies Won at the Nairobi International Trade Fair 2024
The University of Nairobi (UoN) celebrated a significant achievement at the Nairobi International Trade Fair 2024 with a special ceremony where trophies won at the prestigious event were presented to the Vice Chancellor (Ag), Prof Margaret Hutchinson. The Nairobi International Trade Fair was held from the 23rd to the 29th of September 2024. The trophies were handed over by Prof. George Abong', Chair of the International Trade Fair Committee, during a spirited gathering attended by staff and committee members.
In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor (Ag) lauded the committee for their remarkable effort, noting that the awards symbolize a level of excellence and dedication that no monetary value can adequately represent. “These trophies are a motivation that no amount of money can show,” she stated, commending the team for being self-driven and high achievers.
Prof Hutchinson further emphasized the importance of continuous improvement and strategic thinking to maintain and surpass current standards. “We must observe what others are doing that we are not, and work smart to find creative ways to package our showcases, especially amidst budget constraints,” she advised. She also pledged her full support for the committee, recognizing their essential role in enhancing the university’s visibility and reputation on national and international platforms.
UoN took first position trophies in; Best University Stand, Best Stand in Men/Women Activities, Empowerments and Capacity Building, Best Cows (3 trophies), Best Three Matched Commercial Layers, the Union Castle Trophy for Coffee Entries, the Motor Mart Challenge Cup and The Albatros Cup for Potatoes.
