Chinese CEOs Pay Courtesy Call to the Vice Chancellor (Ag)
A high-level delegation of Chinese Chief Executive Officers paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi today, as part of their wider African tour exploring areas of possible collaboration.
Welcoming the delegation, Vice Chancellor Prof. Margaret Jesang Hutchinson described the visit as “a very rare opportunity which cannot be missed,” emphasizing the importance of private sector engagement in advancing the University’s vision.
“This visit could not have come at a better time. The University is striving to bring the private sector closer to our academic ecosystem. We are deliberately working outside the traditional academic box to create new opportunities where universities and industries share resources, ideas, and expertise,” Prof. Hutchinson remarked.
The CEOs expressed keen interest in exploring collaborative initiatives in innovation, technology transfer, research partnerships, and capacity development. Their visit underscores growing global recognition of the University of Nairobi as a hub for knowledge, research, and talent development.
The Vice Chancellor reiterated that the University is ready to co-create solutions with industry partners in order to bridge the gap between academia and practice. She welcomed the delegation to consider long-term partnerships that will enhance student exposure, strengthen research, and drive innovation.
Today’s engagement adds to the University’s ongoing efforts to deepen international partnerships and attract investments that expand opportunities for students and faculty, while positioning the institution as a driver of socio-economic transformation in Kenya and beyond.
