VC attends the Commonwealth Higher Education Stakeholder Group Consultation Meeting
Further to correspondence from Dr Newman regarding the invitation to participate in the Commonwealth Higher Education Consultation, as part of the Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (CCEM), please find below the dial in details for the Commonwealth Higher Education Stakeholder Group consultation meeting on April 4, 0900-1030am BST.
This will provide an opportunity for you to provide comments on the two recommendations proposed by the ACU and to feed into the key points and observations relevant for higher education against each of the five CCEM sub-themes and we hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend.
The University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama, who also serves as the Chair of the East and Southern Africa Regional Committee of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) attended the Commonwealth Higher Education Stakeholder Group Consultation Meeting which was held virtually on Monday 4th April, 2022.
The meeting, chaired by Dr. Joanna Newman - Chief Executive and Secretary General of the ACU was held in preparation of the upcoming 21st Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (CCEM) which will be taking place in Nairobi, on 27-28 April 2022.
The ACU is expected to give recommendations in relation to each of 5 sub-themes of the main CCEM agenda which are
i. Lessons learned from COVID-19 mitigation and recovery strategies
ii. Rethinking education for decent work and employability
iii. Redefining learning spaces: multiple pathways and flexible approaches
iv. Financing of education including innovative financing
v. Education for sustainability and a peaceful, cohesive Commonwealth
The 21st Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (21CCEM) theme is: Rethinking education for innovation, growth, and sustainability post-Covid-19.
