The University of Nairobi has aligned its program fees for self-sponsored students, to the Differentiated Unit Cost Model.

While addressing the University community on 20th May 2021, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Kiama noted that most programmes introduced after the DUC model were not aligned to the funding model.

"You recall that in the year 2017/2018 the government introduced Differentiated Unit Costs (DUC) as a model of funding universities. DUC was developed on the basis of the unique cost of delivering each program. We noted that most programs at the University were started before the determination of the differentiated Unit cost and the method used to develop the fees thus differ. We have now aligned our program costs to the approved DUC for new students admitted from September 2021" Kiama said.

Already admitted students not to be affected by new funding model

The Vice-Chancellor was also keen to highlight that students already admitted into courses at the University will continue to pay old fees until they complete their studies.
