The University of Nairobi has been registered as a Data controller and Data processor under the Data Protection Act, 2019. This is a major milestone. Thanks to the ICT team and legal office.
In December 2021, the University of Nairobi launched its state-of-the-art data center at the ICT Center. From this, several gains have been made and most recently, on 30th January 2023, the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner registered UoN as a Data Processor and Controller under the Data Protection Act 2019. This is a major milestone jointly achieved by our legal and ICT teams.
The University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama met and held fruitful discussions with Prof. Kirk Schulz, the 11th president of Washington State University and a tenured professor in the Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering. Prof Schultz visited the University of Nairobi to discuss and explore potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions and how to strengthen the existing networks and linkages
Today, 17th January 2023, the University of Nairobi hosted Hon. Shri Om Birla, the speaker of 17th Lok Sabha (House of the People), democratic republic of India. The House of the People currently has a total of 543 members representing 36 parties.
UoN Vice Chancellor held a meeting with the Governor for Embu County, Her Excellency Hon. Cecilly Mbarire. The two leaders explored areas of collaboration between Embu County and the University of Nairobi. The University of Nairobi will support the county in development of the County Integrated Development plan, Spatial Plan, Human Resource among others.
The Rector, Helsinki University, Finland Sari Lindblom was hosted at the University of Nairobi on 30th November 2022 . Helsinki university and the University of Nairobi have established a very strategic and enduring partnership.
