UoN Partners with Heidelberg Institute for Global Health to Advance Public Health Research and Education

The University of Nairobi has further strengthened its global partnerships by signing a groundbreaking collaboration agreement with the Heidelberg Institute for Global Health (HIGH). The agreement was signed on November 28, 2024, by the Vice Chancellor (Ag), Prof. Margaret Hutchinson, and HIGH Director, Prof. Dr Till Bärnighausen. The signing marked a significant milestone in fostering joint initiatives in public health.

Under this partnership, the two institutions will collaborate on joint research projects addressing critical public health challenges and will establish postdoctoral programs aimed at nurturing the next generation of global health leaders. These initiatives align with the University of Nairobi's strategic commitment to being a globally competitive institution that actively transforms society.

Speaking during the ceremony, Prof. Dr Bärnighausen echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the shared vision of both institutions to contribute to equitable health outcomes worldwide. “This agreement not only strengthens academic ties but also paves the way for meaningful contributions to global health research and education,” he stated.

 Prof. Hutchinson highlighted the importance of such collaborations in driving impactful research and developing solutions to pressing health issues. “This partnership reinforces our dedication to innovation and global engagement. By working together with a prestigious institution like HIGH, we aim to enhance the quality and reach of our public health initiatives,” she said.

This partnership is expected to create opportunities for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring both institutions remain at the forefront of public health advancements.
