Inaugural Alumni Walk: A Step Towards Supporting Needy Students
On Saturday, June 8th, 2024, the University of Nairobi hosted a significant event that marked a new chapter in its commitment to supporting needy students. Starting at 8:00 a.m. at the Chancellor’s Court, UoN Main Campus, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Stephen Kiama, led a large contingent of University of Nairobi alumni in the inaugural Alumni Walk. This noble activity aimed to raise resources for the UoN Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, dedicated to assisting financially disadvantaged students at the university.
A Walk with a Purpose
The Alumni Walk was more than just a gathering; it was a collective effort to make a meaningful impact. By participating in this walk, alumni and other supporters demonstrated their commitment to giving back to their alma mater and ensuring that more students have access to the quality education that the University of Nairobi offers.
Supporting the UoN Alumni Association Scholarship Fund
The primary goal of the walk was to raise funds for the UoN Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarships to needy students, enabling them to pursue their academic goals without the burden of financial constraints. Through the generous contributions of the alumni and supporters, the university aims to create more opportunities for students who might otherwise be unable to afford higher education.
Building Networks and Creating Connections
In addition to raising funds, the Alumni Walk presented a unique opportunity for participants to interact and build valuable networks. Alumni from various fields and generations came together, sharing experiences and forging connections that could lead to future collaborations and support systems. The event was a testament to the strong sense of community and solidarity among the University of Nairobi alumni.
The success of the inaugural Alumni Walk has set the stage for future events. The university plans to make this walk an annual tradition, continually working towards expanding the scholarship fund and supporting more students. The enthusiasm and dedication displayed by the participants underscore the potential for growth and the positive impact that such initiatives can have.
The University of Nairobi extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the alumni and supporters who participated in the Alumni Walk. Your contributions and commitment to the university’s mission are invaluable. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many students, helping them achieve their dreams and contribute to society.
As we look forward to future walks and events, the University of Nairobi remains dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. The Alumni Walk is just one of many initiatives aimed at promoting education, community, and collaboration.
