    Uganda Christian University benchmarks with UoN on excellence

    Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi Vice-chancellor, Uganda Christian University visited UoN with senior officers from Uganda Christian University. They were keen to learn how the University of Nairobi has continued to excel in the continent and globally. Prof. Mushengyezi noted that the reforms carried out at the University have been impactful and are a critical way of overcoming challenges facing many institutions of higher learning in the region.

    Chargee d'Affairs Diplomatic Mission of Portugal, Luisa Fragoso, bids farewell to UoN VC

    H.E. Luisa Fragoso Chargee d'Affairs Diplomatic Mission of Portugal in Nairobi made a courtesy visit to the University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama to bid farewell after spending about 5 years in Nairobi. The Portugal diplomatic mission has supported the training of Portuguese in the Languages and Linguistics department for several years. Louisa has nurtured the training with passion and dedication. Prof. Kiama wished her well in her new duty station.

    Danish Ambassador to Kenya, Ole Thonke graces engineering students conference and meets VC

    The Ambassador of Denmark to Kenya H.E. Ole Thonke visited the University to participate in the Engineering students conference. In his keynote address at the conference, Thonke noted that the job market has a huge demand for forward-thinking engineers who offer sustainable solutions that do not create more problems but actually offer solutions.

    Later after the conference, the ambassador made a courtesy visit to the UoN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama where he shared with him his relationship with UoN students as intern in Kenya in late 90’s.

    Prof. Wang Shangxue is new Director of Confucius Institute, University of Nairobi

    Prof. Wang Shangxue is the new Director of the Confucius Institute, University of Nairobi. Her two-year term begins on March 22, 2022.

    Prof. Wang is the former director of the Thailand Maritime Silk Road Confucius Institute, which is run by Tianjin Normal University.

  • Coding for Employment Launch at UoN
    Coding for Employment Centre of excellence Launched at the University of Nairobi

    In 2018, the African Development Bank, together with partners – The Rockefeller Foundation, Microsoft and Facebook – launched the Coding for Employment Program at the African Innovation Summit in Kigali, Rwanda. By training youth in demand-driven Information and Communications Technology (ICT) curriculum and matching graduates directly with ICT employers, this program was aimed at preparing Africa’s youth for tomorrow’s jobs and unleashing the next generation of young digital innovators from the continent.

    Kenyan Women in Politics, Leadership, Social Mobilization and Constitution Making honored on International Women's day

    The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi participated in the launch of the book “Conversations with the Pathfinders: Kenyan Women in Politics, Leadership, Social Mobilization and Constitution Making” during International Women’s Day.

    The book was written by the  Women Economic Empowerment hub, University of Nairobi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programs, UN Women, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
