Commissioning of health facilities supported by UON CRISS+ project in Kiambu and Kirinyaga Counties

The University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama commissioned health facilities supported by Central Province Response: Integration, Strengthening and Sustainability Project Plus (CRISSP+) in Kiambu and Kirinyaga Counties.

During the two-day mission in the two counties, the Vice Chancellor visited and commissioned 14 of the 78 sites that have been supported by the UoN CRISSP+.

Chinese Ambassador visit to University of Nairobi

The University of Nairobi played host to Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Zhou Pingjian at the Confucius Institute on 29th July, 2022.

The Ambassador was at the Confucius Institute for the "Ask Ambassador" session organized by the institute.

While welcoming the Ambassador to the University of Nairobi, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama said UoN's cooperation with the Embassy is extremely vibrant in the sense that UoN has consistently benefited from the annual Ambassador Scholarships awarded to needy brilliant students studying at UoN.

VC discusses collaborative agreement with University of KwaZulu Natal delegation

University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama hosted a delegation from University of KwaZulu Natal on 27th July,2022.

The KwaZulu Natal team led by Prof. Stephen Mutula, Head and Dean of School of Management, visited the University of Nairobi to benchmark on the ongoing reforms being spearheaded by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiama.

The two universities agreed to enter into a collaborative agreement that will help in enhancing academic and research outputs. 

Vice Chancellor commissions UoN Centre for Healthcare and Innovation

The University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama officially commissioned the state of the Art Centre for Healthcare and Innovation located in Westlands, Nairobi County.

Scaling Mt. kenya to raise health awareness

University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama and his Mount Kenya University counterpart Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi flagged of a group of 9 students from the two institution who were on a mission to hike Mount Kenya.

The hiking was meant to raise awareness of the O3plus project an initiative that aims at sensitizing the youth on their health and wellbeing. The O3plus is pegged on three pillars namely; Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future.

UoN & GCA sign KES 140 partnership

The University of Nairobi and Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA) signed a partnership agreement to scale adaptation efforts in Africa.

The signed partnership aims to support a robust pipeline of investments for resilient infrastructure in Kenya, to unlock climate finance, create green adaptation jobs and to support Kenyan entrepreneurs for scaling up sustainable adaptation business.

A delegation from Nelson Mandela University pays courtesy call on VC

A delegation from Nelson Mandela University paid a courtesy call on University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama on Friday 1st July, 2022.

The delegation was led by Prof. André Keet, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Engagement and Transformation at Nelson Mandela University.

The team was at UoN to firm up a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two institutions early this year and convert it into a memorandum of actions as well as explore other areas of collaboration.

History made as UoN Foundation is launched

It was a joyous moment at the University of Nairobi (UoN) during a dinner hosted to officially launch the University of Nairobi Foundation on 30th June, 2022 at the Great Court.

The Foundation is a special purpose vehicle geared towards mobilization of resources for the benefit of the university and by extension, all who set foot in it and particularly, the poor and vulnerable.

VC holds discussions with Erika Meddin on the World Bank Internship Program

On 30th May 2022, the University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama mett and held discussions with Erika Meddin, Senior HR Business Partner - Transport, Digital Development, Infrastructure, PPP of World bank. Ms. Erika Meddin briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the progress of the world bank internship program. Nine Universities in Africa participate in this program including UoN. The program is coordinated by Prof Karuti Kanyinga And Prof. Winnie Mitullah on behalf of UoN.

UoN Discusses Partnership with the Global Centre on Adaptation to advance the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program

The University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor held discussions with Patrick V. Verkooijen, the CEO of Global Center on Adaptation. Salient in the discussions was the agreement to develop a framework of accelerating climate change adaptation in Africa.
