UoN VC, Prof. Kiama Address University Community


In his 30 minutes address, he pointed out that the University is guided by its core values; innovativeness, care and commitment.  He pointed out that the University staff, researchers, doctors and post-graduate medical students have shown great commitment in the fight against covid-19.

Quoting his mentor, the late Nobel Laureate Prof. Wangari Maathai, Prof. Kiama urged staff and students to do their part in the fight against the epidemic.

UoN to build Science and Engineering Park


This was revealed when Ms. Veroux Gabrielle from the French Embassy, paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama on March 13, 2020. The building will be co-shared by the College of Architecture and Engineering (CAE) and the College of Biological and Physical Sciences, (CBPS). The building will prioritize safe spaces for women in sciences as well as host joint research programs between the two colleges. High Level Leaders, will also have a chance to share ideas with students on a regular basis.

Alumni targets 1000 students for scholarship

Speaking during the event, Alumni Association Chairman, Mr. Isaac Awuondo observed that about 4000 students have benefited from the yearly scholarships, since the Alumni Association was established in 2005. He said that the aim to support scholarship beneficiaries get internships, jobs, work study programs and mentorship from the Alumni. The scholarship opportunities are only open to first years, but  overwhelming applications were received from continuing students, signaling the need to broaden the list of beneficiaries.

UoN Discuss Collaboration with Rwandan University

Speaking during the event, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Kabera Callixte, University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies, observed that they would be glad to work with a leading university in the region, the University of Nairobi to enable Rwandese students enjoy cultural exchange, internships, industrial relations, teaching and learning in a different country.  The program, sponsored by Volkswagen , so far incorporate several countries ;  Kenya, Germany, Singapore, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

Fare thee well Baba Moi

The late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi served as the longest Chancellor of the University of Nairobi between 1978 – 2002. The University fraternity will forever be grateful to him for expanding the higher education infrastructure to meet the growing demand for the University education in Kenya.

May the Almighty God rest his soul in Eternal Peace.

Vice Chancellor visits School of Business

Led by the outgoing Dean, Prof. James Njihia, School of Business outlined several issues they wanted addressed. Key among them was delayed payment of Direct Service Providers (DSP), availability of lecture rooms at Main Campus, availability of office space for senior lecturers to enable them hold consultations with graduate students, recruitment of more staff to replace those who have been transferred.
