University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama and his Mount Kenya University counterpart Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi flagged of a group of 9 students from the two institution who were on a mission to hike Mount Kenya.
The hiking was meant to raise awareness of the O3plus project an initiative that aims at sensitizing the youth on their health and wellbeing. The O3plus is pegged on three pillars namely; Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future.
The University of Nairobi and Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA) signed a partnership agreement to scale adaptation efforts in Africa.
The signed partnership aims to support a robust pipeline of investments for resilient infrastructure in Kenya, to unlock climate finance, create green adaptation jobs and to support Kenyan entrepreneurs for scaling up sustainable adaptation business.
A delegation from Nelson Mandela University paid a courtesy call on University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama on Friday 1st July, 2022.
The delegation was led by Prof. André Keet, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Engagement and Transformation at Nelson Mandela University.
The team was at UoN to firm up a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two institutions early this year and convert it into a memorandum of actions as well as explore other areas of collaboration.
It was a joyous moment at the University of Nairobi (UoN) during a dinner hosted to officially launch the University of Nairobi Foundation on 30th June, 2022 at the Great Court.
The Foundation is a special purpose vehicle geared towards mobilization of resources for the benefit of the university and by extension, all who set foot in it and particularly, the poor and vulnerable.
On 30th May 2022, the University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama mett and held discussions with Erika Meddin, Senior HR Business Partner - Transport, Digital Development, Infrastructure, PPP of World bank. Ms. Erika Meddin briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the progress of the world bank internship program. Nine Universities in Africa participate in this program including UoN. The program is coordinated by Prof Karuti Kanyinga And Prof. Winnie Mitullah on behalf of UoN.
The University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor held discussions with Patrick V. Verkooijen, the CEO of Global Center on Adaptation. Salient in the discussions was the agreement to develop a framework of accelerating climate change adaptation in Africa.
On 10th May 2022, a delegation from PATH made a courtesy visit to the University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice Chancellor Professor Stephen Kiama and officially signed an agreement for collaboration on issues of Maternal health and child health. The Collaborative Agreement will provide a legal framework to advance the cooperation from a Principal Investigator (PI) level to a University level.
On April 6, 2022, His Excellency Silvio Albuquerque, the Ambassador of Brazil to Kenya, made a courtesy visit to the University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Kiama. On his first visit to the University, the ambassador noted that he has represented Brazil in Kenya since September 2021.
On 6th April 2022, the first cohort of 20 interns from the Faculty of Agriculture were flagged off by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi, Prof. Kiama Gitahi and the CEO of Elgon Kenya Ltd Dr. Bimal Kantaria.
Also present during the ceremony were the Permanent Secretary, Finance Mr. Julius Muia, Senior advisor at the Office of the President, Mrs Ruth Kagia, the CEO, British Chamber, Ms Farida Abbas among others.
