In 2018, the African Development Bank, together with partners – The Rockefeller Foundation, Microsoft and Facebook – launched the Coding for Employment Program at the African Innovation Summit in Kigali, Rwanda. By training youth in demand-driven Information and Communications Technology (ICT) curriculum and matching graduates directly with ICT employers, this program was aimed at preparing Africa’s youth for tomorrow’s jobs and unleashing the next generation of young digital innovators from the continent.

The second leading Pharmaceutical company in the region which has been in existence for over 40 years, COSMOS, has signed a collaborative agreement with the University of Nairobi that will see the two institutions mutually benefit whilst providing exciting opportunities to the student community.

On 19th January 2021, Professor Stephen Kiama, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi, met the Ukrainian Ambassador, His Excellency Mr. Andrii Pravednyk at the embassy in Nairobi. The meeting included discussions about collaborative opportunities between University of Nairobi and leading Ukrainian universities and other opportunities for co-operation. With the tag line 'Empowering You', the station was conceptualized primarily as a media Lab for students undertaking media studies at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and other disciplines to enable them to acquire and apply the right skills required by the Industry in print media, photography, film production, electronic media, performance arts, and engineering.

The Wangari Maathai Institute is an ultra-modern center of excellence of the University of Nairobi built in memory of the late Nobel Laureate, Professor Wangari Maathai.
